PRE-PRESS

Our Prepress department consists of both digital and conventional systems.

Currently, our MacIntosh workstations output to a color-managed digital proofer and a film plotter. Preflighting, color correcting, scanning, and other electronic manipulations are done with up-to-date software by our craftsman.

Our conventional prepress includes some film assembly and proofing, and a computer controlled Step & Repeat Machine for exposing aqueous printing plates. Currently, we are in the process of converting to a direct-to-plate system that will eventually replace conventional film plating.

It is important that a customer know what the print project will look like prior to printing, when the cost of corrections and alterations is lowest, if anything. Proofs can be e-mailed as PDF files for approval, faxed, or, in many cases, delivered the old-fashioned way, by our sales and customer service personnel. Ink draw downs of the customer's spot color choices are shown at this stage. The draw down is made using the customer's PMS color selection on the actual stock to be printed. Often, a little adjustment in the ink formula, prior to press, will eliminate disappointing or unexpected color variations due to stock selection.

Graphic Design for newsletters, posters, business stationary and other materials are also available in-house. If you need more than we can handle, we willl refer you to any of several designers that have earned our trust.

Our signage system enables us to provide vinyl signage for our customers, such as banners, door signage, and convention foam-core posters. If there is a printing related service not mentioned here, just ask! There is a good chance we can do it or at least help you find it!
